How to Determine If You Have a Hidden Leak
If your water bill is unusually high, it may be due to a water leak somewhere in your home. A small leak can cause considerable damage to your drywall, floors and ceilings before you realize that you have a problem. Many homeowners are unaware of water leaks until a pipe bursts and causes significant water damage.
Plumbers Henderson NV recommends that you take the following steps if you suspect that you have a leak. Turn off all the faucets in your home. Close the valve on the water line that supplies your water heater. Go outside and locate the main water meter for your home. It is usually inside of a box that is buried in the ground near the street. Lift the cover off the receptacle and clear away any dirt and debris so that you can see the dial on the meter. Check to see if the meter is running. You may have a hidden leak if you have shut off all the water in your home and the meter is turning.
