Locating Water Shutoff Valves

Whenever you move into a new home, it is important that you locate the water shutoff valves, especially the regulator for the main water supply. Knowing where these valves are located enables you to act quickly during an emergency. If your plumbing develops a leak, turn the water off and contact a Las Vegas plumber. Immediate action will enable you to avoid high utility bills and property damage.

Most faucets have shutoff valves located under the sinks. Shutoff valves for washing machines and water heaters are normally installed adjacent to the appliances. The toilet valve is located behind the toilet under the water tank. In older homes, tubs and showers may not have dedicated shutoff valves. If a problem should arise, you must turn the water off at the main supply line for your home. This valve is located in the garage or utility closet. Use the valve connected to your water meter if you do not have a valve inside your home. This valve is located inside of a box buried in the front yard, which is typically labeled water service.
