The Opus of the Old Family Home

It was a family project building the house nearly 40 years ago. Yes, it is a beautiful log home in the foothills with a finished basement and 3,000 square feet of total living space. They did a good job, and the old ranch house is still indeed the family home. It remains a great source of family pride even though Dad is gone now, but the fact is, things go wrong and as things do they need to be updated.

One day, as the youngest son of the master builder prepared to install a modern bathtub for his mother, he found places in the basement ceiling where galvanized pipes were springing leaks. The false ceiling was taking on water and looking as it had been for quite some time. This mess needed immediate attention, and so the good son found the shutoff valve to cut the water supply to the house.

Further investigation revealed what he had suspected for a while. The plumbing all needed to be replaced, and now it was up to him. His dad cut corners using galvanized pipe to save a bit on the dwindling building funds back in the day, and the old pipes had unfortunately rusted all the way through.
