pipe-leaksCan I ignore small leaks?

Almost everyday, we get calls from customers asking if a small leak is something that can be ignored. Our answer is always the same: a leak, no matter the size, should be fixed right away.

Why is a small leak such a big deal?

That small leak can do quite a number in your home. First, it wastes an incredible amount of water. If you don’t believe us, then put a small bucket or bowl under that leak; you’ll be shocked how fast it fills up. That small leak will also ruin cabinets, make flooring rot, and even promote mold growth. In the end, it’s not the leak that’s the problem; it’s the big damage the small leak will cause.

What should I do if I suspect a leak, but I can’t find one?

Is the toilet paper under your sink wet, but you can’t find a drip? Do you smell mold in your cabinet, but there’s no obvious water source? Your best bet to find a hidden leak is the paper test. Tape strips of paper over various plumbing joints. Once you’re done, wait a few hours or days. When you come back, the area that is leaking should show clearly thanks to the wet or warped paper. Now that you know where the problem is, make sure you call a plumber right away.
