Some homeowners view a leaky faucet as just a simple annoyance. However, the reality is that a leaky faucet can become a major problem over time. A dripping kitchen faucet or leaky outdoor spigot needs to be repaired as quickly as possible. Here are some of the key reasons why a leaky faucet should not be overlooked.

Although the small drips of water may seem insignificant, they can actually cause the household’s energy bill to suddenly rise. Even in the span of only one day, a leaky faucet can lose several gallons of water. If the hot water is leaking, the energy demands could double in some instances.
Stained sinks
The repetitive dripping of a leaky faucet can permanently stain a sink or tub. In some cases, the minerals in the water can also cause the formation of rust on the surface. If the faulty faucet is not repaired in a timely manner, the entire sink will need to be replaced due to the irreversible deterioration.
Floor & Ceiling Damage
If the source of the leak is from underneath the faucet base, it can cause extensive water damage to the floor. Ceilings can also endure serious damage in two-story homes.
