Soap, shampoo and other organic residue can accumulate in drainpipes, which causes water to stand in your showers and bathtubs. If your drains are clogged or slow, you can try these techniques before you call a Las Vegas plumber.

Make sure that there is sufficient water in your tub to provide a good seal with the edge of the plunger. Block the overflow hole with a wet towel, and vigorously thrust the handle up and down. Another method is to pour a mixture of one part baking soda and four parts white vinegar down the drain. Follow this solution with at least a half gallon of boiling hot water. Wait at least 15 minutes before determining whether the clog has dissolved. A third method is to pour one cup of sodium carbonate into the drain followed by a gallon of very hot water. Ensure that you take adequate precautions when using hot water to avoid burn injuries. Do not use caustic chemical drain cleaners because the liquid can accumulate on top of the clog and seep back inside the tub.

If these tips do not clear your tub drain, contact Service Plus Plumbing. A professional customer service representative can schedule a convenient service call with one of our veteran technicians.
